I know . Obama loves to cite Lincoln as a major influence. So do many presidnets though. GW was another. Anyway, thsi is a book of letters and speeches, some personal others political addresess. The legendary Linclon Douglas Debate is fascinating. It has Douglas' speech as well. Douglas mocking Lincoln for claiming blacks were equals. Lincoln replying by warning us that we'd be a nation of insincere hypocrites. Pick it up and see for yourself.
