ARNE DUNCAN SPEAKS IN NYC

TJ andthe TUX paid a visit to the Sheraton for Al Sharpton's National Action Network conference. This morning Arne Duncan, Secretary of Education, spoke about the need for everyone to step up, think outside the box, communicate better. He said parents are their children's most important teachers and that parents ought to have a say in changes that take place in the schools as well. Humble and not claiming to be a genius, Duncan was a solid ambassador for an administration that has alot of work ahead with regard to changing the mindset and actual functioning of education. When asked during questioning about ridding children of so much testing he explained that testing will not be done away with, but that tests need to better arm parents with the educational status of their children (photo by TJ).
