Souter Plans to Retire From Supreme Court

Obama is going to get to appoint his first SC judge.  Souter was appointed by Bush 1 so this could move the direction of the court.  Maybe he will choose judge judy, although I doubt she would want to take a pay cut.

Nothing is certain in life except death and taxes (or coup deVilles and hookers, if you're Elvis). Just one of the few phrases we are ALL familiar with. Another one is "activist judges" - a pejorative that certain sides of the spectrum, who will remain direction-less, like to bandy about like "communist" or "liberal" (as if those were bad things). Well here's just one example of how this term is a distortion of reality. Unfortunately, it's an easy one to make since you could just about squeeze the number of people who don't understand the nuances of the Federal Judiciary into all of mainland China.

Just to clarify, the Supreme Court has recorded the audio of everything they've done since about 1955; I'm not sure what more we'd get out of actually watching Clarence Thomas fall asleep or Ruth Bader Ginsburg age, but who knows?
