GEITHNER WON'T RULE OUT NO NEW TAXES

Remember the old Obama campaign slogan if you make under 250,000$ you will not see new taxes. Just kidding! That's right folks. Campaigning is not governing so get ready to pay more soon. Maybe. You see Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner won't rule out nex taxes. In other words he's prepping us for the fact that yes, soon taxes will go up. Oh well, gotta get the deficit down somehow right? Forget about spending less. read article

PALIN BEATS BLOGGERS TO DIVORCE RUMOUR

She's not moving to Montana and ditching the fisherman OK? Sarah Palin's staff posted a facebook note that ensured everyone that the former Alaskan Governor is not getting a divorce and moving. Bloggers had already begun spreading this story without concrete evidence that it was true. Walter Cronkite is rolling over in his grave tonight at the sloppiness of the blogosphere which has again spoken before it should have.

To quote Sarah Barracuda, from her farewell speech last Sunday, the media needs to "quit making things up." Now unless it's all true of course. We're not saying that it is. However, we also thought that Mark Sanford was hiking on the Appalachian Trail so don't blindly follow us either.

OBAMA'S POPULARITY SLIPS IN OHIO. WHO CARES, THE ELECTION IS IN 2012

Polls showing that Obama's popularity is slipping in swing states like Ohio prove one thing. People are stressed that the Obama ideas for change haven't kicked in yet. That or people don't have confidence that they ever will.

Of course, at the drop of a hat, things could swing in the President's favor again. Those reasons could come from events that haven't even occurred yet, much in the way that the Beer Summit came about. Either way, consider this. The ground that the GOP thinks that it's making with independent voters and Blue Dog democrats since Obama's "stupidly" comment compounded the problems he's having pushing Health care along, will be neutralized when Republicans (except for Lindsey Graham of South Carolina) vote against Sonia Sotomayor for Supreme court nominee. Bye bye Latino vote.

OBAMA: NUMBERS PROVE STIMULUS WORKED

THE HILL.COM

President Obama used Friday's better-than-expected economic numbers to argue his administration's economic policies are succeeding and to defend the $787 billion stimulus package.

"The report showed that in the first few months of this year, the recession we faced when I took office was even deeper than anyone thought at the time," Obama said of the quarterly economic analysis published by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA).

"But it also revealed that in the last few months, the economy has done measurably better than expected," the president added. "And many economists suggest that part of this progress is directly attributable to the Recovery Act.

RECESS LOOMS AS SEPT 15 BECOMES NEW HEALTH CARE REFORM TARGET DATE

Politico.com

Mark your calendars: September 15 is the latest deadline for the Senate Finance Committee to strike a deal on health care reform.
Finance Chairman Max Baucus discussed the deadline Thursday with the bipartisan group of negotiators as they realized the August recess goal for committee work was going to be impossible. There are no plans at this point to go with a Democrat-only bill, a strategy that gives Republicans continued leverage in the ongoing negotiations. But the White House and congressional leaders have not forgotten about their ability to use a procedural maneuver known as reconciliation to sidestep the 60-vote threshold.A bipartisan bill is the overwhelming preference, “but we need to start looking at other steps as well as reconciliation,” a Democratic congressional official said Friday, adding that the staff has been preparing for it.
