President Obama went further on Friday, calling officer Crowley who arrested Professor Gates that set off the racial tensions that have become a national story bigger than health, and threaten to hurt Obama's popularity. Saying his words could have been chosen better and that he didn't mean to single out the Cambridge police, Obama reiterated that racial relations are a delicate matter that he won't shy away from. Stating that Gates may have overreacted from what Crowley told him, he invited both parties to the White house for a beer. I can't help but love the humility in this case of any President being unafraid to say "I'm wrong." Being righteous yet wrong and alienating in the end serves no purpose.
Comments from Right wing radio host Rush Limbaugh that Obama's original comment that the officers acted" stupidly" was the Black Militant response was an extreme viewpoint on a comment that undoubtedly was inappropriate, unfocused, and lacked enough information on the case at the time. read article
