Once again showing he's not perfect and once again proving that he has more maturity in righting a wrong, the President told the officer involved in the arrest of Professor Gates in Cambridge, that he could have "calibrated his words differently." Now apologizing outright would invite that offer every time he is opposed on an issue. however given the tenderness of the race issue, Obma has been as proactive as possible in recognizing that his comments did in fact inflame matters albeit unintentionally and that he had to retract or reframe the "stupidly" comment. Not simply dismiss it or stand by it like the previous administration would have. Nobody's perfect but it takes a true leader to be able to balance the tightrope like this.
