A SOCCER MATCH? AHMADINJEADS POST ELECTION OBSERVATIONS WERE THE TIPPING POINT

President Ahmadinjead's comments after the election that "Iran is the most stable country " and comparing the reaction to his victory to that of a "Football match" defined the lack of connect that the current leadership has with its own people in Iran. Iran is not, and has not been stable underneath the surface for years. Post election reactions like this would not have happened had the foundation to rise up not already been in place. People in Iran want Freedom that a Conservative Islamic religious leadership can't provide. They are not as Ahmadinjead proclaimed, " the most stable country in the Middle East.". In fact, today they could be the least stable. They are not soccer hooligans upset at the outcome of a game. They are people furious at their political system and the people who lead it.

This is not going away. Revolution is no longer in the air. It's now on the ground. 150 are dead from the weeks events. Guns, tear gas, beating, house break ins and other acts of  intimidation are being used by the police. Expect things to escalate. There's no going back now. People want more than an election re count. They want respect. They were told by Ali Khameni to sit down and shut up and take it on the chin. "No more protests. No more election complaints." Well, the people didn't back down.. The challenge by the Supreme leader  to stay home Saturday was met today on the Streets of Tehran. Images taken on cell phones and Twitter postings tell the stories of a resiliency that has become more about a mindset, than the individual.  Sunday will be no different. In addition, each day that ends without the Mullahs finding a way to silence the protests once and for all, will be another day that further cements the will of a nation that is poised to take down it's own government. Along with this, potentially change the temperature in the Middle East as well.
