OBAMA IN EUROPE FOR THE G 20 EUROPEAN VACATION

MCCAIN " IRAQ TOUGHER THAN AFGHANISTAN"
Senator Mccain feels that Iraq was on the verge of collapse in 2007 before the surge . He then went on to say that the Afghanistan is not as tough "and don't let anyone tell you it is." We won't tell you it is. We will tell you however, that it's different. Iraq was invaded by us after knowing the borderless terror netwrok Al Qaeda were the real ones we were after. Afghanistan is and has been a safe haven for these Islamic Radicals. Originally it was the hide out for Osama Bin Laden, our public enemy number one.
A better viewpoint from the Senator might have been had looking at the original value for going into both places. Secondly, i wish he and others would speak of the need for stabilizing both regions for different reasons. In Iraq we are hoping to stabilize their political system and infrastructure. In Afghanistan we are looking to round up people who are plotting to kill us. Let's be fair about this point please
In keeping with fairness, Mccain's doubt that the Afghan troop surge not being enough in numbers is plausible. click here

Frontline: 10 trillion and counting
If you are into causing your own blood to boil watch the latest edition of Frontline. To reach cardiac arrest follow this viewing with a look at the documentary IOUSA. Obama lulls the Financial Times to sleep
For his first interview given to an international publication Obama chose the Financial Times. Thank god for the article. The recorded interview should be used along with sounds of the ocean to put your children to sleep this evening.
TUX MEETS SHARPTON AT HUNTER COLLEGE
TJ and the Tux (above, with Sharpton) checked out the Rev's appearance at Hunter college last night. Sharpton says activism is about getting dirty, not having a clean uniform on the sidelines. He also said that being stabbed while marching for Yousef Hawkins, an African American victim of a racially motivated murder in Bensonhurst years back was the defining moment for him. It helped him realize his true purpose.
REVEREND AL SHARPTON'S NATIONAL ACTION NETWORK
Reverend Al Sharpton, a megaphone for the voiceless, has led his N.A.N since 1991. It's is one of the top Civil Rights organizations in America. N KOREAN NUCLEAR WARHEADS
We reported on this a few days ago. Now keep in mind there are different versions to both the U.S story and the N Korean version. Some of our experts fear the N Korean warhead buildup, N Korea calls these rockets they plan on firing strictly an attempt to knock down some commercial satellites. Fox news errs on the side of hawkish caution in this article. click here

FIRST KHMER ROUGE TRIAL OPENS
Finally, the evil Khmer Rouge is in court. This story could be seen as the equivalent to the Nuremberg trials of Nazi war criminials. 1.7 million Cambodians were killed from 1975-1979 under this evil regime led by Pol Pot. Isn't it ironic that we posted the Kissinger film moments ago before giving you this story. It was Nixon and Kissinger's U.S secret bombings in Cambodia during the Vietnam War(intended to slow down the North Vietnamese who used Cambodia for supply runs) that caused the disarray Pol Pot rose out from. The Cambodia bombings also caused nationwide campus protests, leading to the Kent State tragedy in 1970 when the National guard opened fire on students killing four students. CSNY then wrote the inspired classic "Ohio." We're off on a tangent here but hey, it's Monday and the coffee is kicking in! click here

TIME MAG SAYS OBAMAS AFGHAN PLAN PAINTED IN SHADES OF BUSH
Time magazine compares the Obama surge in Afghanistan to the Bush surge in Iraq. No exit strategy and a call for locals to be more involved. That said, the value of the two places going in are different. Iraq was a mistake of value and implementation. "Mission accomplished" was an early celebration in a country that we knew far less about than we thought. Afghanistan on the other hand, as it stands now, is an obvious safe haven for Al Qaeda and the Taliban. If it is not gutted, we stand the risk of allowing an extremist ruling group and borderless terror network to set up shop and plot more politcally motivated violence. A better article for Time would be: where is the rest of the world. Are they enjoying what Al Qaeda brings to the table? Instead of calling out Obama as another Bush or a hypocrite of his own "change" campaign message, why not once in a while call out a world that chooses to sit on the sidelines once again. Arab countries included.read article, click here
TJ OP ED ON THE VALUE OF OBAMA
When I find myself reading, viewing, and listening to opposition to Barack Obama and his foreign and domestic plans, a few things consistently come to mind. First, as a member of a two man radio team that takes pride in its non partisan stance or shall I say ever shifting stance I try and listen and understand the points being made by those who have alternative opinions to those of the Obama team. Without having an understanding and open mindedness to all possibilities, there can be no honest discussions and true reasonable solutions. Secondly, I try to read between the lines of the opposition to insure that their complaints are not political motives of their own. Finally, as someone who sees the value in Obama , I get frustrated in not being able to explain his true value to naysayers who see the branding of Obama, and his "change" message as a media creation that is more fluff than substance.
What I would say about Barack Obama's value is this. In a world that exists in "real time" communication , that is having a cultural struggle between the East and West, that needs immediate help and long term guidance economically at home, there is no player in our political game better oratory wise, flexibility wise and empathy wise than Obama right now. His youth allowed him the vantage point of Muslim culture from the inside looking outwards. His ability to see the world from both directions has given the world, whether its justified or not, a better opinion of the United States. We are now a country that seeks to join, rather than bully the international community. His speaking skills allow his message to come across convincingly, eloquently, and intelligently which goes a long way in setting the tone for action, much like a coach who gets his players ready for the big game.. His temperament allows the administration in a 24 7 news cycle that extra breath before making important decisions that if done with irrational speed compound mistakes and difficult situations.
It's a shame that many people here at home allow partisan politics to get in their way of giving a young, energized and inspired guy in his first three months, a chance to develop into a leader that can take us into the 21st century gracefully and wisely. Give Obama time to utilize the strengths in his personality rather than knock him for these strengths, and we truly may end up in a better place. no guarantees of course but why are we so afraid that we wouldn't at least try?
Obama on face the nation
" Obam told Bob Schieffer today on CBS' Face The Nation. We are under no illusion, this is going to be hard, " with regard to addressing the issues in Afghanistan. What is a nice way of telling the country that this region needs to be cleaned up? There is none. Treehuggers move aside. The bulldozing is on the way. It's necessary evil, unless we'd rather let the Taliban back in and leave the Al Qaeda headquarters safe for future planning. That's why you have to support the military. Some operations are essential. Expect this one to escalate on our part gradually. or not so gradually. click here.

OBAMA MEETS WITH BANKERS
LEND MORE SPEND LESS. That was the president's message to the heads of Wall st. Obama tried to prep us all during his press conference in saying that not all bankers are bad. He is certainly doing all that he can to set the tone emotionally with Wall st as well with this invite and sit down. Let's hope these bankers do the right thing. They certainly didn't apologize for all that has led us here yesterday, although they did recognize that mistakes were made. click here

Excellent press conference by the prez. Highlights why the U.S needs to step it up there. Call it Obama's war or a quagmire if ya want. The truth is, we took our eye off the ball and need to re focus. The ones we need to fight, we'll fight, the ones who can be persuaded through alternative methods, those measures will be explored. Dear EVR: We quit!
op-ed from the NYT yesterday from an employee of AIG who filed for his resignation after giving his bonus to charity. I think it was the right thing to do, however, all employees at AIG have to understand one thing: the taxpayer kept your company from bankruptcy! when a company goes bankrupt all employees lose more than their yearly bonus, they lose all their retirement savings (that is tied up in the company). So don't act pissed that you had to give up one years salary, you are getting to keep your lifetime savings in tact.

OBAMA HITS ONLINE MEDIA AS ROUND TWO OF SELLING THE PLAN GETS UNDERWAY
Jay Leno. 60 Minutes. Video to Iran. A Nationally televised Press Conference. Was that enough exposure for the president last week? Nah...Now it's time to hit the Web. Online media is the way to go. Obama's brilliant team knows how to hit the real demographic. It's not the conventional way. They didn't run a brilliant campaign on luck. Out go the Press corps, in come the Web corps.
. Whether people as a whole actually buy into the plan is another story. The process of getting the message out though? Smart. click here
BUDGET BATTLES
Obama is fighting to get his budget plans passed. First he's battling Minority leader John"Oh..My..God" Boehner and the GOP who now claim to have plans of their own (hey c'mon..complaining is a plan too. Give them some credit for recent weeks) for the budget.
Worse for the big O, Conservadems led by D Ind Evan Bayh are growing a gang to thwart attempts to pass a budget that these centrists fear will leave us in debt until Buck Rogers takes office in the 25th century. click here
PALIN POINTS THE FINGER AT THE MEDIA
At a low key GOP dinner in Alaska , Sarah Palin unabashedly called out the media's slant against the McCain Palin ticket in November of 2008. While she may have a point, the best way for the GOP to rebuild is to not look back, sideline social issues, get with technology and be a party of ideas not complaints. Meghan Mccain folks! Form the model around her way of being. Listen to her. Seriously.
As for Palin, hey Trick Dick Nixon claimed the media hurt him in 1962 after losing the Gubernatorial race in California. He then announced his political retirement "you won't have Nixon to kick around anymore." He couldn't follow through however, re- entering and winning the presidency in 1968. You think Sarah will do the same? You won't have Palin to kick around anymore? The answer is..no. She'll be around, but she better start looking ahead. The media exists in real time now. In a Twitter world, November 2008 is ancient news. click here

BUSH MCCAIN : TESTINESS PART 2: A RECENT HISTORY LESSON TO PUT ALEX CASTELLANOS OBSERVATION IN PROPER PERSEPCTIVE
In case you were gonna tell us that 2006 and the Bush Matt Lauer interview was already after the fact, here's Bush before he got elected the 1st time, in 2000 during the Republican primaries. Point being, the Obama team wants to put AIG behind it. Therefore Ed Henry , ask a tough question , youll get a tough answer. Happens all the time. watch 2000 primaries.
CASTELLANOS SUGGESTS THAT OBAMA MAY BE A ONE TERM PRESIDENT
Alex Castellanos, a Republican strategist and analyst for CNN made mention that Obama could be a one termer after watching Obama become irritated with CNN's Ed Henry last night. Henry felt the need to push the question of why Obama and Tim Geitner withheld info on AIG for days had they known about it. A testy Obama responded "because I like to know what I'm talking about." Whether or not Obama was at fault for not reviewing the plan thoroughly to check for added bonuses to companies or not the point is debatable.
Nonetheless, I would love to know if Castellanos ever watched George Bush in his famous Matt Lauer interview. Testiness? That didn't stop W from getting a second term. Now this interview was in 2006, however go to 2000 and the Republican primaries where Bush arrogantly cuts off John Mccain to the point where Mccain starts laughing Secondly, for those furious at Obama for his stim package , I hope they were as steadfast about getting fast results when we invaded Iraq...6 years later...yawwwwwwwn. click here to see Bush on Matt Lauer as he defends torture.
