It seems that a greater percentage of the weatherization money from the stimulus package is going towards keeping houses in the south cool compared to previous weatherization legislation. Usually we spend a greater percentage of the money on keeping houses warm in the north because heating a home expends a lot more energy than cooling one off. Obviously politics has come into play because if we were serious about saving the most money from weatherization we would start with homes out in the Dakotas - but last time I checked their aren't many swing state voters out there. So, now we are spending money weatherizing trailer homes in florida. My only concern is that the weatherization upgrades are worth more than the double wide they are installed on. read here.
