The MJ memorial at the Staples center was a moving tribute featuring touching euologies by Brooke Shields, the Rev Al Sharpton whose powerful "thank you Michael " was repeatedly on his way down from the podium. Martin Luther King's children thanked Jackson for both taking his skills all the way and for the effect on their one time ailing mother, the late Coretta Scott King. Jacksons daughter Paris, 11 (above with Jackson's star sister Janet), took to the stage in one of the most emotional moments of the afternoon. Coverage of the Jackson memorial as well as tributes and gatherings for him, took place in cities and towns worldwide.
Much has been made of the media's coverage regarding Jacksons passing: The amount of emphasis and importance given to it. Republican congressman Peter King of NY even made an extremely viral you tube video yesterday of his own, asking people to stop saluting this "pedophile" and instead focus on folks like our military, who deserve the adulation instead.
TJ and the TUX went their own way on the matter at the 42nd st Times square gathering today asking folks whether a comparison could be made between Jackson and Jesus himself. The answers were interesting. Footage will be uploaded here shortly.
RIP MJ. Great music and the positive effect that you had in bringing worlds together will be your ultimate legacy.
