It seems school districts in MN are asking just that, and they are giving teachers complete control of the school. It will be interesting to see how this plays out because of the constant debate in NYC over mayoral control of the schools. Many teachers say that, yes, standardized test scores have gone up, but that is because we are lowering the standards. read here.
