AMERICAN IDOL: SORRY, I GOTTA CALL BULLSHIT

Hey boys, yea you two in the finals and on your way to record deals regardless of the outcome. Get your asses in a dingy basement for at least five years. Carry heavy gear. Play in front of pissed off locals who hope you suck. Learn cover songs. Learn an instrument. Write your own songs. Get a band for gods sake. OK, truth is, I've never even watched the show. Not once. But while the rest of the country were staring at these two fellas I was down at the Knitting Factory as Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards pulled up in a limo while frenzied fans awaited. Let's see,  45 years as the worlds top rock guitarists and songwriters, a band that wrote about AND affected culture, and a band that helped changed the face of music. Then I go home to see highlights of some bullshit contest that the WHOLE country is entrenched in. And why , you ask , has the music industry been struggling? It's because once the masses buy into the bullshit, what's the point of actually diggin deep and making a gutteral full length album? Why don't we ask our 2 finalists that question as the final act in their competition?
